Veteran housing leader joins executive team to drive mission-aligned growth

Alexandria, VA – July 16, 2025: Wesley Housing has selected Jacqueline West-Spencer as Senior Vice President (SVP) of Real Estate, effective June 23, 2025.

This newly created role follows Wesley Housing’s recent merger with Virginia United Methodist Housing Development Corporation (VUMHDC) and marks a key step in advancing its ambitious new strategic plan. Wesley Housing conducted a national search for this position in partnership with BroadView Talent Partners, an executive search firm known for its success in recruiting and retaining mission-driven leaders in the nonprofit sector.

West-Spencer is a nationally recognized leader with more than 25 years of experience in organizational development, real estate, community and business development, financial management, and strategic planning. She brings a proven track record of leading diverse teams and advancing equitable economic development through affordable, mixed-use housing. Most recently, she served as Executive Director of the Redevelopment Authority of Prince George’s County (RDA), where she led large-scale, mixed-use development projects totaling more than 2,900 residential units and 250,000 square feet of commercial space. Her past leadership roles at The Community Builders, NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development, Fannie Mae, and Enterprise Community Partners reflect her deep expertise in housing finance, policy, and community development.

“Jacqueline brings the vision, expertise, and dedication needed to deliver transformative housing solutions,” said Wesley Housing’s President and CEO Kamilah McAFee. “Her demonstrated ability to drive financial sustainability, navigate complex developments, and prioritize community needs aligns seamlessly with our mission. She will play a vital role in guiding Wesley’s next chapter.”

As SVP, West-Spencer will lead Wesley Housing’s real estate and asset management teams, overseeing all phases of the development lifecycle – from site acquisition to project stabilization and long-term portfolio sustainability. Her leadership will directly support the organization’s strategic plan goal to grow its affordable housing footprint across Virginia.

“This is an exciting moment to join Wesley Housing,” West-Spencer said. “The organization’s strong community roots, trusted reputation, and bold strategic plan provide a powerful platform for impact. I look forward to working alongside a passionate team to expand access to quality affordable housing throughout the Commonwealth.”
